Patty Pizzas
Another SP version of my much-missed fave - pizza! This one uses Quorn Sausage Patties as a base which may seem confusing as Quorn products other than the pieces and mince don't count as 'P' foods by the SW plan. However, as these always synned at 0.5 syns for each patty, I do allow myself these during SP days, but only have 2 at a time to limit the syn impact. My interpretation of the SP rules are here but, of course, you must make up your own mind about whether you wish to see it this way.
Please note that the Quorn patties here are counted as synned content rather than a 'P' protein food. They are still, however, a good source of protein - with 12g per 100g, compared to 13g in plain Quorn Chicken-style Pieces, although, as you would expect for a synned product there are 30 cals more per 100g than the plain Quorn.
I'd recommend using a mozzarella for pizza-style cheese here rather than trying to grate one of the ones sold in brine (as this will drive you mad and leave you with grated fingers - trust me!) You can still have 50g of this as your HEA for the day, but it is much easier to grate and you avoid any potato starch coated ready-grated mozzarella pitfalls too.
These are great as a quick-fix meal, they feel indulgent and would, I think, go down well with non-SPers too :) My meat-eating, non-dieting husband liked them, which is a good sign! Serve with plenty of speedy veg - a fresh salad works well.
As with all recipes and meal plans on the blog I have highlighted the protein sources (P foods) in red, the speed (S) foods in green, healthy extra allowances in blue and syns, with syn values in brackets in orange.
Sausage Patty Pizzas
Serves 2 - 1 syn per portion (2 patties) and some use of HEA
4 Quorn Sausage Patties
Sliced mushrooms
3 tbsp tomato puree
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 tsp dried oregano
20g of grated mozzerella
Pre-heat an oven to 180 degrees fan / 200 electric / Gas mark 6.
Put the patties on an oven tray and put into the oven for 10 minutes when they should be fully defrosted and warmed.
As they have their first bake, mix the tomato puree, oregano and garlic in a bowl.
When you take the patties out, spread the tomato mixture generously on the scored side of the patty, then top with the mushroom slices and then a quarter of the cheese.
Put them back into the hot oven and bake for a further 10 minutes - or until the cheese has melted and browned.
Serve with lots of speedy salad or steamed vegetables.
